#ForzaNonni arrives in Bari

Today Specchio d’Italia is inaugurating its “Forza nonni!” project also in Bari. The foundation that represents the national brand of “Specchio dei tempi”, the acronym of Piedmontese generosity close to the Agnelli Foundation and the Gedi Publishing Group, began operating in the Bari area last autumn and has gradually implemented its activities

The first step was the economic support for two activities against early school leaving (which replicate similar initiatives by Specchio d’Italia in Turin, Milan, Genoa and Rome) in Spazio 13 in the Libertà district and in the premises of the Eden Association in Viale Japigia. With a team from Bari, Specchio d’Italia has also started the development of an educational role-playing game to encourage the inclusion of children, especially foreigners, who attend elementary schools, introducing them to a deeper knowledge of the territory and educating them in the principles of proper citizenship.

In December there was the first intervention in favour of the most fragile elderly with the distribution, at Christmas, of thirty financial aid packages (300 euros each) to as many elderly people in particular difficulties who live in the Punta Perotti area. From today, however, “Forza Nonni” (Support the Elderly) is taking place, which aims to help a group of over 80s in their everyday difficulties. This initiative is made practical by the delivery of two free shopping packages per week, by the availability of a domestic worker for 4 hours a month, by the weekly telephone assistance from a dedicated volunteer, by the possibility of rapid activation of a psychologist specialised in assistance for the elderly, from the willingness to share (and if possible to solve) all kinds of problems.
